Most homeowners — and unfortunately many contractors — size a cooling unit off room area alone. That approach ignores the variables that actually determine how hard a compressor has to work, and it’s the single biggest cause of oversized, undersized, and short-cycling wine cellar cooling systems.
“My room is 200 sq ft, so I need a 5,000 BTU unit” ignores everything that actually drives heat gain into the cellar.
A proper heatload calculation measures the actual thermal load your cellar generates, in BTU/hr — the only number a compressor cares about.
Ceiling height changes total air volume even when the floor space stays the same.
Wall, ceiling, and vapor barrier quality determine how much heat penetrates in cellar.
Glass walls and doors gain heat far faster than insulated walls, especially in direct sun.
The temperature and humidity of the space surrounding your cellar changes the load significantly.
Send us your cellar’s dimensions, insulation, glass, and location details — our consultants calculate the precise heatload and recommend the right WhisperKOOL unit, not just the biggest one.
Correct BTU sizing only pays off with correct installation. Our team installs WhisperKOOL self-contained, split, ducted, and ceiling-mount systems across Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and South Florida.
We calculate BTU requirements from your cellar’s real specs.

Certainly, here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) about Whisperkool Blow through series wine cooling systems.
The WhisperKOOL Blow-Through Series is a compact split-system evaporator designed for hidden wine cellar cooling applications. It is engineered for soffits, built-in cabinetry, wine walls, adjacent mechanical spaces, and in-cellar installations where traditional wall-mounted systems may not be ideal.
Traditional wall-mounted evaporators typically pull and supply air from the front of the unit. The Blow-Through Series moves air through the unit from one side to the other, allowing the evaporator to be hidden, ducted, or integrated into custom layouts.Â
Common applications include:Â
The unit supports three airflow kit options:
Fully ducted applications can support duct runs up to 25 feet. Diverters can direct airflow left, right, or downward depending on the installation layout.
The Blow-Through Series supports 16 different airflow configurations using optional ductless and ducted airflow kits, allowing the system to adapt to a wide range of wine cellar layouts and installation requirements. These configurable airflow options allow the Blow-Through Series to be integrated into soffits, cabinetry, wine walls, adjacent mechanical spaces, and other custom applications where traditional airflow layouts may not be possible.
The Rotatable Air Deflector allows airflow to be directed left, right, or downward to accommodate different installation layouts and improve air circulation within the cellar.Â
The Blow-Through Series is compatible with:Â
Additional compatibility with communication and pump-down configurations may vary by model.Â
The Variable Speed Fan Switch allows installers or technicians to adjust airflow and fan speed based on the application, helping balance cooling performance, airflow, and sound levels.Â
The Blow-Through Series includes:Â
The WhisperKool Wine Cooling Systems are high-quality, reliable cooling systems. Designed to regulate the temperature and humidity of wine cellars. Wine cooling units are ideal for both residential and commercial wine cellars. Providing consistent temperature control. Ensure that wine is stored at the optimal temperature for aging and preservation.
